Understanding the Complexity of Cancer with Cryo-EM

Share this post on:

Cryogenic electron microscopy (cryo-EM) lets researchers observe biomolecules in their natural condition and capture complete, fully functional macromolecular complexes in different functional states. Structural biologists use cryo-EM to characterize how genetic mutations affect protein structures and conformations and identify how these alterations impact signaling and function in cancer. This information is important for understanding drivers of oncogenic signaling and factors affecting drug efficacy.
